"I didn't realise how big Cancer Research UK was before I joined. It's run like a business, not how you might imagine a charity to be. It's hard work! They're constantly striving to move forward - I didn't expect the organisation to be so ambitious. It's a nice feeling, knowing everything you're doing is for a common goal.
I love my job in POD. It's really friendly here and very open. You can speak to the Managers about anything that's on your mind and they'll take it seriously. However, it does mean you have to have the courage to speak up if you're unhappy about something. You can't just sit on it and moan - you have to take responsibility for sorting it out. There's a real openness to ideas too. Nothing gets shot down straightaway the way it does in some other organisations. If you're serious about something and you've done your research, people will listen."
